Not sure why so many folks call this a "dive". It's a lot nicer than a dive. We sat outside among the lights and tiki torches, atmosphere was great. People of all ages, lots of kids, one of the best behaved little babies I have ever seen, scarfing on grits and her sippy cup. I even saw a couple that brought along their dog. Oh, and even if you sit outside like we did, you have to check out the Tavern's interior and gaze in wonder of those thousands of dollar bills masquerading as wallpaper and ceiling paint. Beers were very reasonable at $3,75 each. I had a Red Stripe, but it was my second choice. The menu mentioned a Costa Rican beer I wanted to try, but they didnt have it in stock. Our food was Crawfish Quesadillas ($8.50) and a broiled seafoof platter ($16). The quesadillas were very cheesy and skimpy on the crawfish. The platter had three scallops, and 5 peanut sized oysters. It came with veggies (delicious) and I had wild rice as my side (very good). The seafood was fresh and tasted great, but the amount of seafood was not generous. Service was very pleasant, but slow. Sorry, there is no other way to describe it. It was our first time there, and its was very hard for us to find. You don't see it from 17, its behind all the action. So your GPS declares you are there, but you don't see it! If you go at night, just look for all the lights in the distance.

Great food-- hands down!!! The atmosphere is a bit stale and has that run down old bar feel. The outside eating area is nice. Very busy place so many seem to come for the good food. The blackened Mahi Mahi with red pepper sauce is amazing. Pizza was also very tasty. No view of the inlet or ocean.

Pawley's Island Tavern (AKA The PIT) is well known by the locals to be considered a secret dive. We were told about this place by a local acquaintance and gave it a try. If you are thinking about trying this place, head my warning, go into it knowing the atmosphere is relaxed, cool, and sloooow. The bar tender was rather abrasive when we were trying to ask for happy hour specials. Granted, we had arrived 20 min prior to the end of happy hour. They have live entertainment that starts at 8pm which was a huge plus. The performer was his own self Caribbean reggae band that was really impressive to watch. As for the food, again, sloooow. Among our group we had order fried seafood platters and pizza. The pizza sauce was terrible with too much oregano added. The pizza and the fried items were not in coordination with each other which led the pizza to come out 30 min prior to the fried items. The fried seafood was nothing crazy. The fried scallops were the highlight. Fish was overcooked and sparse. Shrimp was par. Crab cakes were sub par. Just a quick recap, enjoy this place for its live entertainment and know the food will be slow and go into it thinking that whenever it comes, it comes.

Good ambiance, staff was friendly and the burgers were awesome! Tried the pit fries and they were delicious, I can honestly say one of the best things I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend the PIT.

Great atmosphere. Top notch bar food. Good live music. The burgers and pizzas are the best around. Beach dive bar level: master.

Great place with a great atmosphere. The dollar bill wallpaper was pretty cool, and we felt very welcome. The appetizers were a bit pricey and small, but were very fresh and fried very well. I had the crescent city shrimp over grits instead of wild rice, and it was very creamy and well balanced. My family had the fried seafood platter and a po-boy sandwich which they thoroughly enjoyed. The only thing I didn't like too much was that the space was kind of cramped.

Love this dive bar in Pawleys Island. They have great drinks and live music which is a nice bonus! They have outdoor seating options to enjoy on a cooler day. It's a great place to take a group or out of town guests.

Nice atmosphere. Wait staff works hard. But apparently the kitchen thinks a blackened burger means burn the hell out of it. When I commented they took $.50 of the bill because I ate too much of it. I ate it because I was HUNGRY! that's why I was there! Crab balls were overcooked as well. Maybe oil was old and needed to be changed. My friends said the pizza was good.

We were looking for a fun place to dine with the kids and the menu looked yummy, good reviews, so we checked it out. It took over an hour and a half for the food. Then when the pizza came it was hard and cold. The manager offered to "discount" the food bc it was a lot of money. The kids only ate it bc they were starving. I would've had no problem waiting for fresh food and paying for it and the mgmt could've handled the situation better. We will not be back. It's too bad bc the other table's food looked delicious.

Great dive bar! Food was very excellent! We had a grouper basket, fresh sea scallops, and a black and bleu burger. The scallops and grouper were very very fresh and the French fries were extra crispy. I would very well recommend this place to anyone looking for a lunch or dinner.

This was a very "local" place. Being from out of town we tried to find it twice because of it's Yelp rating, and failed. Finally they answered their phone and told us how to get there---they don't take reservations even for 8. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and it was one of the best I have ever had----all crab with a little snappy dressing. The other people all orderd burgers or pizza and enjoyed them. The place is a little loud. The service a little slow. It is not expensive. If it weren't for the great crab cakes it was a 2* ---BUT THE CRAB IS WORTH THE VISIT. I did hang my dollar there---you have to visit to see what this means--but I am right next to the juke box. ERNIE

This is the type of local place I always try and find while on vacation. We can't stand the chains! The owner's sister waited on us and she was so funny and down to earth. I had the grilled pimento cheese with tomato. I think I could eat it everyday! The flavor balance was perfect. My husband moaned while eating his burger because he had had his full of seafood over the last 6 days. We loved the decor with the dollar bills and it looked like a fun place to sit at night under the lights on their patio. Make sure you go to the PIT. We will be back!

We've been visiting this favorite since it was The Island County Store. We've had everything on the menu more than once and come back often. This place is great for both tourist and local alike. Be careful parking!

What a great place! Kind southern service, hilarious decorated dollar bill "wallpaper", and properly cooked seafood. Excellent beer choices including some local Pauley's Island brews. Look for the lime green PIT mailbox and its back on that gravel driveway road. Had a great po-boy (that sayce is something special) and my cousin highly recommends the PIT burger!

  • Steven J.

Would have never found the place without a friends recommendation. Awesome venue and good food. Music on the weekends and good food to top it off. I had the flank steak as I'm not a seafood guy - everyone else had crab cakes we all loved the food. Eating outside is the way to go, it has an amazing atmosphere.

Always ask locals where to find the best places, that's how we found PIT. It's back far, look for an orange mailbox with PIT written on it. I recommend the happy hour drinks, great 1.25 special for PBR! I had the build your own pizza, fresh ingredients and delicious cheese! Unfortunately the kitchen was backed up and our fried seafood came out 30 minutes after the pizza! The manager wasn't happy that a member of our 7 person party spoke up. They gave us 50% off though. If I go again it'd be for drinks, pizza, and the entertainment.

Food conch fritters. Service is good. Cool place. We sat outside. Plenty of shade. Inside has money everywhere. We got a marker and stapler from bartender to add our own dollar to the wall. Husband liked crab balls. We went for lunch. Had po boys he had grouper i had shrimp. Fried and po boys were good. Cowl slaw good too. I like sauce po boys came with. Good southern bar food. Nice atmosphere. Enjoyed it.

Great dive with awesome food. Fantastic night spot or for lunch. Great laidback Atmosphere with vacation feel. Pizza, seafood, yummy crabcakes, meat & three. Devine food with a happy fun dive atmosphere. The people are warm and freindly and make you feel like home. Outdoors in the summer w/ blues at night. A must for any PI visit.

Heed the directions! Look for the green PIT mailbox on the west side of US 17 near the island shops. Down a dirt and a gravel drive (you can't see the place from the road), and there is a Guy Fieri dream dive. Unfortunately, the food isn't quite up to the great staff. Crab cakes are very good with a lot of crab and a little less than ideal seasoning, but a minor flaw. Could have done with a little less crust, or a little less browning. Calamari, though, seemed like it came out of two different boxes. the rings were perfectly breaded and cooked, while the other parts were overcooked and not flavorful. Conch fritters similarly overcooked. Reasonably tasty on the inside, but not memorable. Stick with crab dishes on the seafood side of the menu--its their signature and rightly so. Key lime pie was good, pecan not so much. Really friendly staff, fun place. Eat outdoors if weather permits.

Ill start off by saying I caveat this review with the fact that the atmosphere helped this rating tremendously.... The name says it all. This place is a PIT. Love the atmosphere. Great to sit, have a cocktail and dine outside, but order anything but the basics and you will be disappointed. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

This is an awesome dive bar and restaurant in the Pawley Island area. GO! The atmosphere can't be beat -- dollar bills line the walls inside and outside there are lights stringing from the trees, tiki torches and a great outside bar. Food was southern and delicious with a wide array of selections and the beer menu featured a variety of craft beers. We stayed for over an hour listening to some amazing live music that totally made the vibe of this place. Definitely plan to hang out for a while!

A dive bar with great food! The walls are covered in dollar bills and there is live music on the weekends. Fun atmosphere! If you want to miss the louder crowd, definitely go before 8pm. We love the PIT's pizza! Last night, we ordered the House Special. It has everything on it, so make sure you love meat, veggies and jalapeños before ordering! The crust is amazing! For an appetizer, we got the crab dip! Great flavor - pimento cheese, crab and spices. It's served cold (unlike most crab dips that are warm) with house made potato chips. Always a favorite! Can't wait for summer when we can sit outside!

  • Amanda G.

This place is a great dive bar with a fun atmosphere, and the pizza and burgers are good, but DO NOT get any fish, shrimp, or BBQ. The shrimp was marginal, and the fish and BBQ were inedible. The manager was nice about it and took that stuff off of the bill, but i guess we will have to go to Sonic now. The Psycho Burger is great, though. So just be careful with what you order.

Awesome burgers!!! We've been coming here for 10 years and we love it! The atmosphere is unique and fun, service is friendly, and the food is always great. Look forward to next time!

Always heard about this place but never actually stepped in until our recent first visit. Atmosphere is great, menu had lots of choices, and the beer was cold. What more can you ask for? Pizza was surprisingly very good and made fresh! Great place to grab a drink and appetizers as well. Recommended for a drop in if you are in the area. We will be back!

Cool place and decent food- average at best. Took like 40 minutes to get a hamburger?? Waitress, named Brittany B., completely forgot about us and the only time we got a refill was from someone else. Stayed there for about an hour and a half (waiting on the waitress most of the time), and we had to go find her to get our check when we wanted to leave. Food was alright but wasnt worth the horrible service.

  • Stacey L.

Wow, a diamond in the rough. Not your typical tourist destination, right up our ally. Hard to find, for us newbies but so worth the visit. Laid back, friendly atmosphere. Cute tiki bar and band stage outside, speaking of band: we made a stop on a Sunday and what an awesome band! A definite go to when visiting Pawley's Island.

Worst dining experience ever, slow service would be an understatement. 20 minutes to get our drinks, they forgot to put in my wife's food order all together. Terrible, avoid this place at all costs!

This was quite a pleasant surprise! We decided to check this place out after seeing other good reviews on Yelp, but we had trouble finding it, and that's b/c it is tucked in the woods making it all the more cool!! The surprise comes b/c it is such a "dive" place that you have to wonder about the food. Food was great!! I had the mahi special they had going, and it was superb! My husband had the shrimp which were actually done perfectly as they were not battered beyond recognition, but were truly "lightly breaded" and done just right. I even think their cocktail sauce was homemade as it was delicious too. They then had live music which added to the evening. Don't expect things fast here though as the tables turn slowly, but at least you can get a local beer while you wait for your table. We enjoyed eating outside, and waited the longer wait, rather then go inside which is pretty funky with its dollar bill wallpaper. My little boys said their must have been "a trillion dollars on the walls!" Delicious food which is key, decent wait staff (although could've been a little more friendly), and a definite do again for us.

What a find. The food is good, the club sandwich was the size of my head and loaded with meet. But it's really the atmosphere and the people that made this place awesome. The atmosphere is quirky and fun. The outdoor seating was quaint and relaxing. The owners parents thanked us for feeding her grandchildren. It's definitely not a tourist destination and is a little tough to find but worth the effort for the local flavor.

1st visit and early dinner at 4pm. Service very quick, friendly and attentive. Appetizer (conch fritters) piping hot and fresh. Table had pizza, fish baskets and kids grilled cheese. Fried fish not greasy and pizza good. Side salads fresh as well. Unique atmosphere and will return for outside bands. Nice local food/beer experience.

  • Robert K.

Service sucked balls, took forever for the food and the band sucked. We left because we didn't want to wait another hour and a half for food. Not a family friendly atmosphere either.

Still waiting for our food. 2 of us were served a long time ago. The other 5 have not. We will not return. Waitress blamed us for having separate checks.

We returned to Pawley's Island in late October after the busy season ended. We were tired from traveling and decided to give the P.I.T. another chance as it was close by. We had the same great service and we were the only patrons out on the patio on a beautiful crisp cool evening. To warm up, I tried the Crescent City shrimp with andouille sausage. It was very delicious, spicy, and a generous portion. Much better than the last visit.

We love this place and when in Pawleys it's a must go to for us. The food is good but the atmosphere makes it a winner. Outside Tiki bar is my fav place to be and the bartenders are a ton of fun!!

The PIT is always the same. You can't go wrong if you want local food and local flavor. Never disappoints.

  • Michelle R.

Cute place, nice atmosphere and good wait staff. Drinks were a little slow. Food was mediocre. Kids liked it (6), good fries. Crab cakes missing seasoning and no spice. Gater bites tasty but chewy. My son loved those. No cocktail list, was told they do all cocktails so I asked for mojito....they don't do them :) only one unisex toilet so I can imagine when crowded this could be an issue. Nice for a drink, but better food close by.

I've been coming here for years as a vacation home owner in litchfield. I remember the food as being good, but not any more. They get 1 star for food and five starts for ambience and entertainment. That equals out to my three star review. Coolest bar around with the worst food ever!

    (3)
  • Diane H.

It's oyster season and the oyster po boy is great at PIT. Oysters are plentiful with a peppery breading on them. Remoulade sauce is also delicious. Really like the tavern and am looking forward to warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor dining!

  • Roxie D.

Ever watch True Blood? The PIT is Merlotte's in style and feel. I love it because of its eccentricity, its friendliness, its dry rub chicken wings, its garlic pizza and its beer!

    (5)
  • M L.

Great little dive bar! It was hilarious to see Gucci and Chanel bags on the bar while there were dollar bills taped to the walls and ceilings, but I loved every minute of it. The band was amazing, the staff was great and they had two kinds of beer we can't find at other local bars. It's the place to hang if you're in the area!

    (4)
  • Ken E.

We have eaten at the PIT probably 4 times over the last few years. It truly is a delight. We love the casual funky atmosphere in a wooded rustic setting. Also, all the food we have ordered there has been great, especially the Mahi over crawfish grits, our favorite. We also like the diverse crowd PIT draws from vacationers, locals, golfers to the after work construction crowd. Definitely worth the ride down to Pawley's Island.

    (4)
  • Jennifer L.

First, this place IS hard to find -- look for the lime green mailbox that says "PIT" on it on Route 17. The dirt driveway to the restaurant is immediately before that mailbox. I was led here by some overenthusiastic Yelp reviews and a menu that promised crawfish quesadillas, crawfish po boys, crawfish and gravy, and crawfish tails -- I'll drive miles for crawfish, obviously! Unfortunately, there wasn't one crawfish item on the menu when we arrived so apparently the Yelp menu is out of date. This was disappointing, but there were other interesting seafood items so I selected a fried seafood combo. It was fine, and really cheap compared to other local places. The pimento cheese dip appetizer was really good, and the drinks were dirt cheap: $2 for a Smirnoff ice and $2.50 for the local draught beer. This is definitely a dive bar with slow service and cigarette smoke wafting throughout, so come when you're in the mood to spend a few hours and have more than a few drinks with friendly, inebriated locals and visitors.

Truly a unique experience! Once you find the place you are in for a dining memory. Crab cakes are the best I have had. Bring a dollar bill to paste on the wall ar ceiling.

  • Andrew S.

If you're planning on dropping by the tavern, I gotta tell you something: keep your eyes PEELED. You'll see a mailbox that says PIT on it and that is it. I nearly turned into a pond trying to find it! I went there with a party of seven (by that I mean I was one of the seven and I was with five other people plus my fiancee) on a Saturday night around late supper time for a nice evening meal. I recommend showing up late because there was going to be live music in the after hours and we were only there for the whole sound check. Anyways, I had some sweet teas and it was a little on the unsweetened side of sweet tea, but I like my sweet tea with a side of cavities. Next, I got a few mozzarella sticks which came with marinara sauce but I got a bone to pick with the chef--if I didn't know better, I would have thought that pizza sauce and cocktail sauce eloped to the kitchen and left their baby in my sauce container. It took some getting used to, but we got through it alright. For my meal, I got the psycho burger. It was kind of neat. To be honest, I couldn't fit it in my mouth. My fiancee and I tried to eat it lady and the tramp style and it ruined my shorts, so I would not recommend trying to be romantic with their foods here. If you do, GOOD LUCK. The flavor was good but they forgot a couple things on my friend's burger. This is pretty embarrassing, but someone in my group nearly urinated on themselves trying to find the bathroom. If you come here, it's behind a bunch of one dollar bills (this isn't a strip club). The ambiance was pretty neat and it helped me get a couple extra smooches so I'll give it great stars for that one and the server people were pretty nice. Overall it was pretty good, but I wouldn't die if I didn't come back.

Super fun atmosphere and good food. I had the PIT fries which were FANTASTIC! It was a huge basket of fries smothered with yumminess and jalapeños. My friend had the crab cake plate which she thought was just ok - not as good as ones she had at another Pawley's restaurant, and the other had the Lavaisha's Special Pizza which was phenomenal! I would definitely go back! We sat on the patio and listened to the live band - make sure you put on bug spray!!! And yes it is hard to find. I think the locals like it that way! ;)

Pawley's Island Tavern, or "The PIT" as it is known, was a great place for lunch on a beautiful sunny South Carolina day! We had a burger and Chicken salad. Bothe were very good with the burger being outstanding. Unfortunately the pasta salad was inedible. I'm not sure what they do to it, or how old it was, but it was a pile of disgusting mush. So that was the weak point in an other wise perfect casual lunch. The atmosphere is funky-cool and our server, Deanna, was really great!! Prices are good and the food was too. If not for the bad pasta salad, a 5 star joint!

  • Kason M.

Great find thanks to Yelp! My wife had the Mahi, and it was so-so. A bit overcooked. We shared a Crab Cake for our appetizer, and it was fantastic! I had the pizza (can't remember the name), but it had spinach, feta cheese, and garlic. Delicious. Overall, a great experience!

  • Rich S.

Great find by follow Yelpers'. Look for the green mailbox w/PIT on it or you'll miss it. The food was delicious especially the crabcakes and salmon. Blacken Mahi-Mahi bt fellow dinners was found to be great to. Live music was good and not too loud. Great service by Allie.

  • Celia C.

After reading all the yelp reviews online, I decided I HAD to come eat here. We found it thanks to the mailbox tip and came inside. It took a minute to figure out to seat ourselves, whatever not a big deal. What WAS a big deal is that throughout our experience, our waitress was slow and not attentive. The food was pretty yummy (I enjoyed my boyfriend's crawfish more than my oyster po boy), but I cannot give this place more than three stars for the service we received on a not so busy afternoon.

This place screams "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and definitely fits into the Dive category. Don't drive too fast or you'll pass it right by. Look for the Mole shop and green mailbox and if you're going south, make a sharp right onto the dirt road. If it looks like you are going into a swamp in the bayou then you're in the right place!! Dolla, dolla bills yo! is what you see- wall-papered all over the walls and the odd kitty cat wandering around protecting the tavern from critters. You'll hear psychedelic-hippie-acid music when you enter the main room and maybe feel out of place if you're over-dressed. We started off with the famous crab-cakes. One of the guests in our party said she normally doesn't likes crab cakes but she liked these ones. I had the Crescent City Shrimp and the dish was pretty decent but I prefer my rice on the side of the dish so it doesn't get soggy. The rest of the group had chicken fingers, the Ribeye and Mahi over Crawfish Grits. All very solid! The server was very nice and could easily be working in a 3 star Michelin- rated restaurant.

We were in Pawleys for ten days and ate at the PIT four times! The grouper was delicious...I had the dinner and the basket. The crab cakes to die for. Awesome grilled Mahi. Cool place, good service, hip tunes...loved it. Look for the green PIT mailbox and go!!

This place is as good as it gets when you're looking for a place to relax, hear some live music, drink craft beers and not be bothered by too many tourists! The reason the tourists aren't prevalent at this place is because of it's hard-to-spot location, which I'm not going to divulge how to find! Just kidding- look for the Island Cafe & Deli and the shops surrounding that place, because the P.I.T. is just behind that stuff. As another reviewer said, look for the mailbox. (Why don't they have a sign, you ask? Something about some douchebag not letting them put it up on their property or something- maybe they're just trying to keep a place for the locals? For that, I cannot fault them, but this is all just hypothetics, as I do not recall why there is no sign.) The pizza is perfect, the music inside can get a little loud, but if they know what they're doing, I'm okay with not being able to hear anything afterwards! The bartenders are always great and are good at suggesting beers. FYI- if you're from a place that has a lot of craft beer selection, this is the place for you! There's a gazebo-bar outside with a deck-like floor that stretches to the back door of the bar, an outdoor stage for live music which they generally have every weekend when it's warm, and lights strung along the beautiful trees that provide a nice canopy to the outdoor gem. All-in-all, this place can't be beat! And to add to the fun, the last time I was there, I discovered that there's a "drunk bus" that takes wedding parties to the P.I.T. to party after the formal reception is over. Now that's responsible!

  • Ashleigh A.

I love this place - it's a local charmer! The ambiance is great, the seafood is always fresh and the service is as quick as you want it to be....but take your time - it's a lot of fun to just sit with a cold beer and listen to their live band.

A must miss which is easy to do given you can barely see the tiny sign on the side of the highway. I wish we had missed the sign, though. While it's a great bar, skip it for a meal. The atmosphere was basically a shed and every inch of the dark interior was covered with dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceilings, which doesn't matter if the food is good. Food wasn't great. It wasn't bad, but the portions were small for the price. We are small people and I still had to feed the family later on in the evening b/c dinner was so light. The $20 "Seafood Platter" consisted of 3 small fried shrimp, 3 small fried scallops, 2 fried oysters, a small chicken-tender sized piece of fried fish, a "mini crab cake," 2 tablespoons of veggies and a small handful of fries. We spent over $100 on 4 meals (2 entrees, 1 seafood basket and 1 salad) and all left hungry. We cut our losses and headed out for ice cream afterwards. What a waste of time and money.

  • Rachel B.

Though the decor was neat (dollar bills hanging with different signatures and statements) the fish dishes that both myself and mother-in-law ordered were barely edible. I figure blackened cajun means spicy and it was not at all. The service was quick and my husband and his dad enjoyed the burgers. I've also been told the pizzas are good so perhaps we just ordered the wrong things.

Off the beaten path, but certainly a diamond in the rough . . . . driving south on Ocean Highway (U.S. 17), make a right at the Mole Hole (just south of the Hammock Shop) and travel back among the trees and settle into the sand parking lot; exceptional food at reasonable prices - recommend the lunch and particularly the crab cake and flounder sandwiches with fries, and grouper fingers as a starter, exceptional beverage selection and fast friendly service - put a buck on the wall!; a must stop for the tourist who wants to share in low country hospitality, local down home atmosphere and great food for all ages . . . . August 2012.

  • Cheryl P.

This is a great locals dive. The fried oysters are INCREDIBLE, the pimento cheese fries are sinful and you can't go wrong with the grouper fingers! When family comes to visit we take them there. It's off the beaten path so it isn't swarming with tourists.

Total dive. Total bar fly haven. Laid back. Great pizza and wings. The bartenders are superb. Fun, fun, fun. I'll be back. Take out or eat in, the PIT is great for both a quick and easy fix or a long day-into-night of drinking festivities!

What a fun colorful place. The food is good and I love that this places doesn't try to be anything it isn't. It embraces its dive atmosphere and creates a super neat experience.. The staff was great.

This place is a dive, and that is what makes it great. It's hidden behind some other shops, so watch for the mailbox. We stopped here on our way back to Georgetown from Brookgreen Gardens - my husband and I, our two 8 year-olds, and a sailing friend. There were a couple of groups drinking some early afternoon beers, but otherwise the small place was quiet. The walls are stuck all over with dollar bills, which was entertaining while super friendly waitress took care of our orders. I had a burger with the homemade chips - perfect. We sat in front of big fan, cooled off from the crazy heat outside, and had a good time.

You can't beat the crab cake - it really is the best! The service is great, but we went twice when we were in town and both times the kitchen took forever.

I read PIT's menu online and decided they had enough vegetarian stuff to choose from, so we decided to give it a go. This place has no sign! Luckily my husband had a hunch where it was, and we drove down the secluded drive and ta-da! This place reminds me of places we ate at in Key West. It's very secluded and out of the way. My husband ordered a Greek salad and split a pizza with my 5-year old. He said both were really good. I got pizza as well, and a side of fruit for my 2-year old. The pizza wasn't as thin as I normally like it, but hey, I'm eating pizza at a seafood place. It was actually okay, though! My mom had the seafood platter and said it was "alright". The service was great, and the ambience was neat. There are dollar bills with stuff written on them all over the walls. This kept my 5-year old entertained all throughout dinner ("Can you spot Batman?"). Really cool place.

Great dive. Mix of people from older folks to kids, locals to tourists. This place is really hard to find...I mean really hard. No sign on 17, just a mail box with PIT on it. Had gator bites, chips and pimento cheese and pizza. Everything including the service was fantastic. In fact my wife and I liked this place so much, we dropped off the kids at our condo and went back to sit at the bar and enjoy some live music. Dollar bills stapled to every square inch of this place and I have to say without the dollar bills, this place is probably worth $500. Words of warning: if you're expecting a nice place, this isn't it. If you're expecting an ocean view, you won't find it here. This place is a dive with great food and people. Don't expect more than that and you'll be happy.

We sat outside on a lovely fall night. I loved the atmosphere. The service was perfect. I had shrimp and grits, which was pretty bland, but the shrimp were perfectly cooked. My daughter had the blackened Mahi, which was really good.

The best description of the PIT is an adult tree house. When mosquitoes are at bay and the sun isn't sweltering, sitting outside with live music is the best! They have the best pizza in town, really good combos and they are willing to add whatever you want too! Greek salad is savory and the pimento cheese dip with the crispy chips is a PI staple. They have live music generally Thurs-Sun and are normally closed Mondays. Wide variety of beer and one of the only places that serves "Dark and Stormy's". If you are just visiting, be sure to staple a dollar bill to the ceiling!

The PIT is a hidden gem of a watering hole, never ate the food but have gotten my drink on there several times, decent live music, affordable drinks and interesting locals

Thanks to the green mailbox tip we were able to find this place. We flew into Pawleys Island for one day only and we came here for our meal Loved it! Had the crab dip, crab cakes and one of the baskets. All of it was excellent. Nice fun atmosphere very casual. Would absolutely return for another meal.

We've been coming here for years, every time we get to Pawleys Island. They have the best crab cake sandwiches. Grouper fingers are delicious. Great beer selection. Good kids meal selections. Everything is fresh - you can't go wrong. Get some crab dip to go - it's sublime. Really laid back. When it's not too hot, sit outside under the giant trees. Very relaxing. Favorite restaurant in the Litchfield Beach / Pawleys Island stretch.
